Thank you for your interest in supporting the work of Rooted!

There are several ways to support Rooted’s work. We do our best to keep our costs very low (or free!) to participants, which means that we rely heavily on grants, personal donations, donations-in-kind, and corporate sponsorships.

Become a Camp Sponsor

The cost of camp for a camper is $240 per week for full day camp. (Similar outdoor camps in our area charge as much as $440 per week.) In order to keep our costs low and provide scholarships for as many campers as possible, we rely on outside donations and sponsorships. Currently, we have fully funded almost twenty campers, and we offer a program for free camp to newcomers to Canada who are in the refugee process.

Sponsor an Activity Area for a Camper – $25
This covers the cost of supplies for a camper’s weekly activity at camp (garden, arts/crafts, outdoor education, sports, and more).

Sponsor a Camper for a Day – $48
This covers the cost of sending a kid to camp for a day.

Sponsor a Camper for a Week – $240
This covers all costs involved with sending a camper to camp for a week.

Sponsor an Activity Area – $500
This covers all costs involved with the special activities for the week. This includes having an expert(s) in a particular field come in and do activities with kids, as well as necessary supply costs. For example, for “Wonder Lab,” we are having a local scientist come to do experiments with kids in the garden, in the woods, and at the river that pertain to local insect populations.

Church Cohort Sponsorship

The cost of running the Church Cohort Program is approximately $15,000 per year and we are offering it for free to churches this year. This includes:

• • 10 month online program with monthly 2-hour class sessions led by Rev. Dr. Konnie Vissers, Executive Director of Rooted and J.D. Van Allen, Lead Designer of Eden’s Refuge. 
  • Resources for each congregation to lead their own VBS program on the theme of creation, a 4-session Bible study on themes of creation care and congregational life, and a book on sustainable garden design
  • Retreat at the Agrihood for participating leaders to see first-hand implementation of programming
  • Consulting services for each congregation to find grant funding and help the congregations implement their garden designs. 

Sponsor a Church – $2,000
This covers the costs associated with one congregation participating in the Church Cohort Program. 

Corporate Sponsorship of the Church Cohort Program – $15,000
A corporate sponsor can cover all of the costs for the Church Cohort Program. This includes registration for 8 congregations to engage in an intentional learning community for a year leading up to planting their own gardens.

If you are interested in sponsoring a congregation or becoming a corporate sponsor with Rooted, please email the Executive Director, Konnie Vissers, at rooted@kortrightchurch.org. Sponsorship at this level includes a presence on our website and tax receipt for your company. We believe that sponsorship should also include partnership. Executive team building is part of all sponsorships above $10,000, and we are happy to provide up to two team building days per year for your company at the site of the agrihood.
